IVC launches Song in the City, an intimate concert series

The International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch presents Song in the City, a new intimate, out-of-the-box concert series. Six evening concerts in unique historical locations in the city centre bring classical music as close to the public as it can get - getting audiences swept away by world-class singing in an unexpected cultural setting.
The 2026 series opens on 21 May in the hall of Ruby Soho gallery with Theatre in Song 2025 second-prize winners soprano Madeline Saputra and instrumentalist Apollon Kalamenios, presenting 'Picture This: Among the Folks' - a nostalgic journey blending the yearning melodies of Indonesian keroncong with contemporary German Lied.
The series continues on 19 June in the most unexpected location possible - a parking garage - where the dynamic lied duo of mezzo-soprano Roza Herwig and pianist Julius Backer present 'Classics in the Carpark', with music by Bizet, Schubert, Britten, Weill, Sonneveld and more. Further concerts are announced through the season. A second full edition of Song in the City follows in 2027.
