An intensive masterclass week for young professionals ready to take the next step in their career. Over five days in 's-Hertogenbosch, singers work closely with renowned teachers and artists from the field.
ABOUT THE MASTERCLASSES
Five days of private coaching, masterclasses and a closing concert
The International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch presents the IVC Masterclasses, an intensive week held in the city centre. Participants take part in private coachings, group sessions, public masterclasses and a closing concert at Museum Kruithuis as part of the IVC's Song in the City series. Movement and body work, mentoring and professional career advice round out the week.
Every singer receives a daily individual session with each teacher, is chosen for at least one public evening masterclass, and performs in the closing concert. All masterclass selections are made by General & Artistic Director Andrew Watts together with the guest faculty.

Application requirements
The IVC Masterclasses are open to singers of all nationalities who have completed a formal singing education or are studying at a conservatory and aspire to a professional singing career. Full requirements and the course fee are listed below.
AGE LIMIT
Maximum 34 years during the masterclass week. Participants may not be younger than 18 years.
REPERTOIRE
Three solo arias by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner or Puccini; three art songs (one German, one French, one English); and one or two operetta or classical musical-theatre arias. The closing-concert programme is chosen by Artistic Director Andrew Watts.
LANGUAGE
All masterclasses are given in English.
COURSE FEE
€500, including lunch and dinner. The fee is paid upon acceptance and includes 21% VAT and all service fees. An IVC Hardship Fund is available for singers facing financial difficulty.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for all participating singers is provided free of charge by host families in 's-Hertogenbosch.
HOW TO APPLY
Send an email with your biography and CV (including date of birth) and two YouTube links - two opera arias, or one opera aria and one art song in different languages - to info@ivc.nu. Include your proposed masterclass repertoire.

Is singing your passion? During the IVC Masterclasses, non-professional singers have a unique chance to work one-on-one with Andrew Watts - one of today's most talked-about countertenors and IVC's artistic director - in a relaxed, inspiring setting. Piano accompaniment is provided by IVC prizewinner and regular competition pianist Ian Tindale.
