Each year, dozens of international singers travel to 's-Hertogenbosch to take part in the IVC. Host families provide them with a guest bed for the week, freeing budget that the foundation directs to prize money, coaching, and outreach.
Singers arrive a day before their round and stay through the finals if they progress. Most hosts welcome one singer; some welcome a duo. We match by language, dietary needs, and household preferences (quiet practice space, pets, children) so that everyone is at ease.
A private room with a bed, daily breakfast, a key to come and go, and a kind welcome. Hosts are not asked to provide meals beyond breakfast, transport, or sightseeing; the singers are busy at the venue all day.
A pre-week orientation, a host-family liaison who is on call during the competition, complimentary tickets to a public round, an invitation to the host-family reception, and a thank-you gift at the end of the week. All hosts are covered by the foundation's hospitality insurance.
