An intimate concert series that takes classical song out of the concert hall and brings it to the heart of the city, in venues you would never expect to hear it.

With Song in the City the International Vocal Competition runs an intimate, out-of-the-box concert series. Six evening concerts in unique historical locations in the centre of Den Bosch bring classical music as close to the public as it gets.

Every concert pairs a singer and a pianist with a venue that is not a concert hall - an art gallery, a museum, a car park in the city centre. Each evening is built around an original programme, and the audience sits close enough to hear every word.

Past editions have brought IVC laureates and Theatre in Song prizewinners to the series with music ranging from Bizet, Schubert, Britten, Weill and Sonneveld to Indonesian keroncong and contemporary German Lied.
