Cláudia Ribas

Cláudia Ribas is a Portuguese mezzo-soprano and laureate of the 57th IVC Opera & Oratorio in 2024, the edition whose honorary jury included Dame Gwyneth Jones. Trained in both lyric and dramatic mezzo repertoire, she has emerged as one of the most promising voices of her generation in the Dutch operatic scene.

Her IVC run brought her to the attention of casting offices across the country, and she has built a reputation for combining vocal richness with a strong dramatic presence on stage. Her programme during the competition moved between Baroque oratorio and late-Romantic opera, the breadth of which the jury cited as a defining strength.

Since the IVC

Following the competition Ribas has been engaged by De Nationale Opera, where she is performing in the company's new production of Don Carlo.
