Apollon Kalamenios

Apollon Kalamenios is a Cypriot pianist, violinist and composer based in Amsterdam, where he studies classical piano with Professor David Kuyken at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He is a collaborative pianist by training and temperament, and his work as répétiteur sits at the heart of his artistic practice.

With Indonesian soprano Madeline Saputra he formed a duo whose programme Keroncong Anemoia / Letters of a Javanese Princess swept three honours at the inaugural IVC Theatre in Song competition in September 2025 - the 2nd Prize Staetshuys Fund Prize, the Press Jury Prize, and the Vrienden van het Lied Engagements Prize. The programme drew on Indonesian musical heritage and the letters of Raden Adjeng Kartini, presented in a theatrical recital format that the inaugural competition was created to celebrate.

Since the IVC

Kalamenios has been reported to be joining Komische Oper Berlin's Opernstudio as a staff répétiteur. The engagement has not been publicly confirmed by the house, and we are carrying the report tentatively.
