Where stars are born

Up-and-coming singing talents from all over the world have been coming to Den Bosch since 1954. What started small has since grown into a competition with a great reputation where the stars of tomorrow are on stage. Because participating in the International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch means getting noticed by impresarios, programmers and the general public. During the competition and master classes, you get a live glimpse of the future and listen to vocal talents whose work you are guaranteed to hear more of.

This year, as many as 70 vocalists are competing in the first rounds, but only 8 of them advance to the finals. Although we are a tough competition, we also have a human face. Of course, the best will win, but we are also a place where young musicians can gain valuable experience and are allowed to grow. That is why participants who are not selected for the finals are offered master classes. Among others, they will be coached by renowned colleagues such as Roberta Alexander, Dame Gwyneth Jones and Dutch superstar soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek. Because not winning does not equal losing.
