‘IVC a safe oasis.’

Opera Magazine spoke to artistic and general director Andrew Watts about the anniversary singing competition. What has the past year been like?
After a thrilling and atmospheric finale, the Portuguese mezzo-soprano Cláudia Ribas became the convincing winner of the 57th edition of the International Vocal Competition.

These were exciting days in Den Bosch. Artistic director Andrew Watts: ‘What a days full of singing these were. I am proud that the IVC was able to attract such great vocalists. They really are the cream of the crop, but all vocalists presenting themselves here in Den Bosch are already winners, having been selected out of 567 participants for the 2024 competition.
Brabant Cultureel spoke to Eva-Maria Westbroek: ‘Winning a prize at a competition can mean the beginning of a successful career. That you can help a next generation on its way, that's what I want to work for.'
